Match Report by St@tto

Harriers slipped to their heaviest defeat of the season as Forest Green took quick revenge for their Boxing Day defeat.

For the first time since Gary Whild took charge of the team Harriers conceded four goals, finding themselves 4-0 down by the hour mark.

The scoreline wasn't necessarily a true reflection of the game as Harriers had been the better side for the first 20 minutes, and should have been ahead by then had Marvin Johnson not blasted over the bar when well positioned after setting himself up with a run that took him past three defenders.

Rovers took the lead on 22 minutes Dale Bennett making a strong run on the right, Johnson's missed challenge leaving him with time to pick his cross to the far post where Jon Parkin rose to head back across goal past Danny Lewis.

Fifteen minutes later the visitors doubled their advantage when Clovis Kamdjo latched on to a ball over the inside-left channel and volleyed past Lewis.  Things got rapidly worse for Harriers two minutes later when Lewis could only parry a shot from Parkin into the path of Kurtis Guthrie who was left with an easy tap in.

Harriers came out for the second half with more purpose and should have pulled a goal back within two minutes of the restart when Kevin Nicholson's cross from deep on the left was knocked down by a defender into the path of Reece Styche who lashed the ball wide when had more time than he realised and should have done much better.

After 58 minutes the visitors increased their lead when rookie defender Jordan Tunnicliffe show his inexperience and allowed Parkin to turn inside the penalty area and fire past Lewis.  Ten minutes later Harriers pulled a goal back when Craig Reid was felled in the penalty area by Bennett and the referee had no hesitation in pointing to the spot to signal Harriers' first penalty of the season.  Reid himself took it and fired beyond the reach of Sam Russell.

Just three minutes later Harriers reduced the deficit further when leading scorer Johnson fired in his eighth goal of the season through the legs of Russell from 20 yards out.  Harriers continued to press but Forest Green were able to withstand the pressure and came close to adding a fifth goal when Guthrie received a pass from James Norwood and controlled well before seeing his shot saved by Lewis.

With seven minutes left in the game a Nicholson corner from the right just evaded the head of the unmarked Jamie Grimes who had he connected would have set up a gripping final few minutes but it was not to be and Harriers slipped to their second defeat in a row.
