Match Report by St@tto

Poor defending from Harriers cost them dear as they threw away the lead and lost at home for only the second time all season.

Steve Burr was able to strengthen the line-up after the midweek defeat at Woking bringing back Kyle Storer and Lee Fowler from suspension but had to make a change at the back with Lee Vaughan suspended; Danny Jackman moved across from left back to fill in.

Alfreton made their intentions clear from the outset, lining up with five at the back and full-backs in the wide midfield positions.  As a result, as has been the case all season, Harriers struggled to deal with a team that came to stop them playing.

Harriers had most of the possession in the first half but rarely threatened debutant goalkeeper Jon Worsnop in the Town goal.  Callum Gittings fired Harriers ahead after 16 minutes after being set up by Amari Morgan-Smith's pass, but that was the only shot on target that they managed in the half.

After the break Alfreton levelled the scores on 52 minutes; under pressure from Jon Akinde Danny Lewis gave the ball away to former Harrier Michael Wylde who was left with an easy chance to score.

Things started to fall apart for Harriers midway through the half; Morgan-smith was show a second yellow card and sent-off.  From the resultant free-kick former Harrier Tom Shaw saw his shot turned in by Wylde to give the visitors the lead.

Alfreton wrapped up the game two minutes from time; Lewis clumsily brought down Akinde in the penalty area.  Akinde took the spot-kick himself, sending Lewis the wrong way.

As well as Morgan-Smith Harriers will be without Gittings for the trip to Grimsby in the week as he picked up his fifth yellow card of the season.
