Match Report by St@tto

Harriers' third 4-1 win in the last four home games saw them through against Conference South side Sutton United.  The home side didn't have it all their own way, however, as they had to come from behind to earn the win and a place in Round Two.

There was a surprise in the Harriers squad with a new signing on the bench in the shape of former Tamworth and Aldershot (among many others) defender Aaron Brown.  Chey Dunkley came back into the side after finally shaking off his knee injury and there were returns to the starting line-up for Joe Lolley and Amari Morgan-Smith while Mickey Demetriou was out through suspension.

Poor defending gifted the opening goal to United after just nine minutes; Charlie Clough was left completely unmarked to head home from Sam Rent's left-wing corner.  Harriers needed just three minutes to level the scores; Harriers carved through the visiting defence on the right and when Michael Gash's shot was blocked Morgan-Smith was on hand to stab the ball home.

Five minutes later Gash was involved again, holding off a the attentions of United defenders before slipping the ball to Man-of-the-Match Callum Gittings who fired Harriers ahead.  Gittings then turned provider, getting to the byline on the right and firing a low cross to Morgan-Smith whose shot was blocked at the expense of a corner. Shortly before the break Gittings was set up by Lee Fowler but volley wide.

Harriers had a much better approach to this game than they had had against Bradford Park Avenue in the previous round and totally dominated the game, looking dangerous every time they went forward.  Joe Lolley added the third just before the hour mark;  Gash did good work in the middle of the park before being blocked but the ball ran to Lee Vaughan whose pass through the inside-right channel found Lolley who jinked his way into the penalty area before tucking a shot inside the near post.

Gash went close to increasing the lead further moments later but his shot was kept out by the legs of Thomas Lovelock and then shortly afterwards he beat the offside trap to meet Morgan-Smith's left-wing cross but his glancing header hit the far post.

In the closing moments United went close to pulling a goal back; Anthony Riviere's cross from the left found substitute Damien Scannell at the near post but his volley was tipped round the post for a corner.  From that Sutton corner Harriers wrapped up the game; clearing the danger the ball fell to Nathan Blissett who made a long, powerful, run into the opposition half before setting up Anthony Malbon to take the ball round the keeper and fire in his fifth goal of the season.
