Match Report by St@tto

Harriers moved up the table to sixth thanks to goals from Anthony Malbon and Michael Gash to see off bottom club Hyde.

Unchanged from the side that had beaten Welling last weekend Harriers needed less than three minutes to take the lead; Malbon pouncing on a long ball out of defence, controlling well before curling his shot into the top corner to record his second goal of the season.

Hyde's performance belied their league position and although they did try to frustrate Harriers they did try to play football themselves, they were back on level terms after 14 minutes; Tom Collins allowed to run at the defence through the inside-left channel before finishing smartly from the edge of the penalty area.  Harriers regained the lead twelve minutes before the break, though; Gash was left unchallenged to get his head to Lee Fowler's free-kick from near half-way.  For Gash, too, it was the second goal of the season.

Harriers could have increased their advantage in stoppage time at the end of the half; Kyle Storer played the ball in from the right to Malbon but his shot was saved by David Carnell who then saved the follow up shot from Danny Jackman.

After the interval Hyde still would not roll over and could have levelled the score seven minutes into the half; Collins meeting Connor Hughes' left wing cross only to see his shot saved by Nathan Vaughan.  The game became scrappy and Harriers failed to build upon their advantage; only once was Carnell tested, saving from Chey Dunkley.  Midway through the half good work from Malbon on the left set up Gash who curled his shot just wide of the far post and eight minutes later Malbon was again involved on the left wing, getting into the penalty area before pulling the ball back to Storer who shot wide of the near post.

Harriers held on, though, and easily soaked up the pressure applied by the visitors to see out the game and take the points to record their fifth win of the season and move into a four-way tie of teams on 15 points just five behind the leaders.
