Match Report by St@tto

A solid performance from Harriers earned them a deserved point and stretched their unbeaten run to five games while becoming just the second team to come away from newly-promoted Fleetwood's Highbury home having avoided defeat.

Dave Hankin came back into the side in place of the unwell Nick Wright as the only change from the side that had drawn with Cambridge United at the weekend.  Harriers started the game brightly and enjoyed a lot of possession in the early stages, knocking the ball around well. They could, probably should, have taken the lead after 14 minutes when Callum Gittings jinked his way into the penalty area on the left, but then with the goal at his mercy and just the 'keeper to beat he lacked composure and fired wide of the near post.

Against the run of play Harriers were made to pay for Gittings' miss when Ian Craney fired Town ahead on 20 minutes; picking up the loose ball just outside the penalty area after Harriers had failed to clear a right wing throw in he lofted a volley over Danny Lewis and into the far corner of the net.

Fleetwood grew in confidence with their new-found advantage and soon afterwards Shaun Beeley made a good break on the right and crossed low towards the far side of the penalty area where Nathan Pond met the ball and fired it wide across the face of goal.  Craney then had a chance to double the lead when he tried another dipping shot that beat Lewis but came back off the crossbar.  At the other end, in stoppage time, Lee Morris made a good break into the home penalty area but his low cross towards the far post was just out of the reach of Gittings.

After the break the game continued to ebb-and-flow; Keith Briggs made a good surge forward just ahead of the hour mark but his shot was parried by Scott Davies s in the home goal.  Town substitute Jamie Mullan was allowed to much room to run at goal with fifteen minutes remaining but fortunately for Harriers he fired over the bar.

The equaliser for Harriers finally came in the 79th minute; Gittings' corner from the left found Jack Byrne at the near post who guided a glancing header inside the far upright to record his second goal of the season.  The was a late scare for the visitors when Simon Grand headed wide of the near post from a right-wing cross.
