Match Report by St@tto

Harriers and Fleetwood must meet again for the chance to progress to the First Round Proper of the FA Cup after a dour goalless draw at Aggborough in their first-ever meeting.

Chris McPhee returned to the starting line-up after recovering from an ankle injury, Aaron Farrell stepped down to the subs' bench to accommodate his return.  McPhee's presence in the side didn't do much to lift Harriers, however, and the first half hour of the game was very scrappy.  Two poor free-kicks were all that Harriers had to show for their attempts to break down the well-organised Fleetwood side managed by former Harrier Micky Mellon.

On the half hour mark Matt Barnes-Homer got into the penalty area on the left, his pull back found Brian Smikle who hit a good shot that Danny Hurst managed to parry and fumble around the post for a corner.  In the last minute of the half Darryl Knights' free kick from deep on the right found McPhee who directed a glancing header across the face of goal.

Harriers were a little brighter in the early stages of the second half; just three minutes in they felt that they should have had a penalty when Barnes-Homer's shot from a short Knights free kick appeared to hit a Fleetwood hand in the penalty area but all that they were given was a corner.  Shortly afterwards a Lee Baker corner from the right was headed over at the far post by Gavin Caines.

At the other end Sean Clancy robbed John Finnigan in midfield and fed the ball to Tom Cahill on the left; his shot was parried well by Dean Coleman.  Fleetwood had their best spell of the game in the middle of the second half and went close again on 64 minutes when Jamie Milligan's free kick from the left was flicked on to Nathan Pond at the far post who headed wide.  As the game wore on Harriers were indebted to Coleman again; Martin Riley's poor header fell to Gareth Seddon who hit a dipping volley that the keeper did well to tip away for a corner.

Harriers best chance of the game came seven minutes from the end; a throw from the right came to Finnigan who knocked that ball back to Caines who hit a great shot that was destined for the back of the net until Hurst managed to reach out and push it away.  Coleman saved Harriers again two minutes from time pushing Milligan's 20-yard free kick over the bar.  There was controversy in stoppage time as Harriers' skipper McPhee was show a red card for an apparently reckless challenge on Town's Jamie McGuire.
