Match Report by St@tto

Harriers find themselves seven games without a win following their fourth consecutive defeat, and their fifth in six meetings with league leaders Aldershot.

Showing two changes from the side that was knocked out of the Setanta Shield in midweek - Alex Jeannin and Brian Smikle coming in, Jeff Kenna and Darryl Knights dropping down to the bench - Harriers got off to a dream start when Mark Creighton's punt forward caught out Shots defender Anthony Charles who slipped at the crucial moment and allowed Matt Barnes-Homer to nip in and lob the ball over Nikki Bull to put the visitors ahead after just two minutes.

The lead was short lived, however, as less than three minutes later Aldershot drew level.  A free-kick was pumped forward into the penalty area, Charles' goalward header was parried by Chris MacKenzie and Danny Hylton reacted quickest to stab the ball in.  Just after the quarter-hour the home team could have taken the lead; Joel Grant's cross from the left found Ben Harding whose header was pushed away by MacKenzie for a corner.

Harriers' best move of the half came eight minutes before the interval.  Russ Penn sent the lively Brian smikle away on the right, his low cross found Barnes-Homer who laid the ball back to Michael McGrath whose shot was easily gathered up by Bull.

After the interval Harriers came out looking as though they were content to sit on the point that they held and hope to soak up the pressure that Aldershot threw at them.  Inevitably they crumbled and they fell behind after 66 minutes.  Creighton was well positioned to break up an Aldershot attack but his clearance fell to Harding who lashed it beyond the reach of MacKenzie and into the top corner from over 20 yards out.

Harriers offered little in the second period although they could have drawn level within a minute of going behind; Michael McGrath made a good run through the inside left channel before feeding the ball to Jeannin on the wing, his cross was just out of the reach of Smikle, although the flag was up for offside against the winger.

Right at the death, deep in stoppage time, substitutes Darryl Knights and Iyseden Christie combined to carve open the home defence, Knights' pass setting Christie clear on goal but his shot was well saved by Bull with his legs.
