Match Report by St@tto

Harriers' dreams of joining the Premiership "big-boys" in the draw for the Third Round of the FA Cup were destroyed by a two-goal salvo from Dagenham in the last five minutes of the game.

Mark Yates made just one change from the team that lost to Oxford, bring back Dean Bennett for the last game of his loan spell in place of the suspended James Constable but changed the formation to the same 4-4-1-1 that had been used to great effect in the conference game at Burton Albion.  In the early stages it looked as though this tactical switch would pay off as Harriers dominated the game in blustery conditions. Mark Creighton's third goal of the season,  a free header from Andy Ferrell's left wing free-kick, gave Harriers a deserved lead after just 12 minutes, but they were unable to build upon their lead while they were on top.

Gradually the home side got back into the game and after 32 minutes drew level when Creighton's headed clearance was knocked back towards the penalty area and Paul Benson hit a shot into the top corner from just outside the penalty area.  In stoppage time Russ Penn could have restored Harriers' lead but dragged his shot wide of the far post after making good run through the heart of the home defence.

Just after the hour mark Penn was involved again with a good pass through the inside-right channel that put Justin Richards into a good position but veteran keeper Tony Roberts saved his shot with his legs at the expense of a corner.  Dagenham had the best of the possession in the second half and fifteen minutes from the end should have gone in front when substitute Jon Nurse found himself in acres of space on the right wing but his cross was volleyed over the bar by Benson.

Five minutes from time, as it looked as though Harriers would withstand the home team's pressure and escape with a draw, Nurse created the decisive second goal for Dagenham.  Beating Paul Bignot on the left wing he crossed low to the far post where Ben Strevens was on hand to turn the ball in from close range.  Harriers sacrificed a defender - Bignot - in favour of a third striker - Matt Barnes-Homer - and threw everything forward in search of an equaliser.  It was then that Dagenham wrapped up the game, deep in stoppage time Benson broke clear and slipped a shot past Scott Bevan from a narrow angle.
