Match Report |
Harriers survived a second half bombardment from their hosts to hold
out for an excellent victory, and became the first team to win at Darlington
in the league this season. The game was played at a lively pace
throughout and Darlington thought that they had taken the lead after 19
minutes when Tim Clarke spilled the ball into the path of Lee Nogan
who tucked it away only to see the linesman raise his flag for offside. The
home support vented their anger at the officials further when Kidderminster
took the lead, Adie Smith appeared to be in an offside position when he
recieved the ball before setting up Durnin.
Durnin's second goal, 31 seconds after the interval killed the game off for some time, but Darlington picked up the pace and spent much of the half encamped in the Kidderminster half. Durnin could have increased the lead but steered the ball against the post and it was Darlington who scored next. With fifteen minutes remaining, Darlington thought that they had equalised when Naylor put the ball in the net, but again a linesman's flag was raised for offside. Darlington threw everything forwards but Kidderminster hung on desperately for the three points. |
