Match Report by St@tto

Harriers recorded their second win in-a-row for the first time this season and moved off the foot of the table.

One of their best performances of the season, probably the best, saw them race into the lead and then show great character to come back to complete the win after throwing away that lead.

Unchanged from the side that had recorded the first away win of the season three days earlier at Boreham Wood Harriers started brightly and raced into an early lead.  Ben Whitfield won the ball deep on the right and made a strong run forward into the penalty area before passing to Luke Maxwell who took a touch and blasted a volley into the top corner of the net.

Harriers were moving the ball around confidently and playing without restraint; the lively Elton Ngwatala tried his luck with shots from distance on two occassions in the early stages but neither of his efforts troubled Michael Poke in the visitors' goal.  Midway through the half a good exchange of passes between Ousmane Fané and Ngwatala created an opening for Whitfield who shot straight at the keeper.

Early in the second half Harriers were given a warning when former Harrier James Constable fired wide but the home team doubled their advantage on 52 minutes.  A swift counter attack saw Ngwatala set Maxwell clear in the inside-left channel, his shot was parried by Poke straight into the path of on-loan Harry White who was left with a simple tap-in to register his first goal for the club.

On the hour mark Eastleigh got a foothold in the game when Arthur Gnahoua's attempted clearance was charged down by Joe Partington who won the race to the loose ball and crossed to the far post where an unmarked Constable was on hand to head in.

With Harriers wobbling the visitors drew level eight minutes later, another low cross from the right - this time by - Luke Coulson - was turned in at the far post by Constable.  For once, though, Harriers didn't their heads drop and came back to regain the lead just four minutes later; Maxwell's quickly-taken free-kick set Gnahoua away on goal, he dribbled past most of the visiting defence before drilling a shot into the bottom corner beyond the reach of Poke.

Harriers could have increased their lead shortly afterwards when Whitfield's run on the right ended with a shot that went narrowly wide of the far post while at the other end the closest that Eastleigh came to an equaliser was when Coulson's cross from deep on the left hit the top of the crossbar.

The victory was enough to lift Harriers off the bottom of the league table, albeit only on goal difference, and was the first time that they had recorded back-to-back victories since December 2014.
