Match Report by St@tto

With some of their best football of the season so far Harriers recorded their second home win in-a-row.

With on-loan Matthew Barnes-Homer unable to play against his parent club Harriers tried a different pairing in attack with the short-but-mobile Ben Whitfield and Jordan Murphy while Luke Maxwell returned to the side after injury and James McQuilkin was given his first start since January 2012.

An even first half was light on goalmouth action; Harriers passed the wall well but the visitors enjoyed most of the possession.  Aldershot should have taken the lead just past the half-hour when Richard Brodie was allowed a free-header but he directed it straight at Dean Snedker in the Harriers goal.

Shortly before the interval Harriers' best move of the half ended with McQuilkin feeding the ball to skipper Jared Hodgkiss in the inside-right channel but he shot narrowly wide of the far post.

Harriers took the lead seven minutes into the second half; Whitfield and Murphy combined on the left with Murphy getting to the byline before pulling the ball back to McQuilkin to steer past Phil Smith in the Shots goal.

For the first time this season Harriers went two ahead six minutes later; Hodgkiss's long ball found Whitfield who skipped past one defender before despatching a shot into the top corner.

Snedker had to be alert with 13 minutes left to keep the clean sheet intact, tipping Afoiabi Akinyemi's free-kick over the bar for a corner.  Maxwell could have increased Harriers' lead in the closing minutes but shot just wide after a strong run through the middle.
