Match Report by St@tto

Individual errors and a moment of madness cost ten-man Harriers dear against an impressive Wrexham side.

Harriers slipped into the bottom four of the early league table after falling to their third defeat in a row thanks to costly mistakes by Dean Snedker and the sending-off of Reece Styche.

Andrew Fox was introduced for his debut after signing on loan from Peterborough United earlier in the day and showed promise in the left back position.

Harriers looked bright in the early exchanges as chances were wasted at both ends, Styche firing wide for Harriers and James Gray doing likewise for the visitors.

Wrexham took the lead in the 21st minute; Sean Newton's free-kick from the right was misjudged by Snedker allowing Manny Smith to head it out of his hands and into the unguarded net.  Before the interval the visitors could have increased their lead when Harriers failed to clear a corner from the left and Ro Evans fizzed a volley wide of Snedker's right-hand post from the edge of the penalty area.

In the closing stages of the half Harriers could have drawn level; first when a corner from the left wasn't cleared and Aman Verma's cross from the right found the head of Jordan Tunnicliffe who should have done better but headed over the bar.  Then, Luke Maxwell won the ball in midfield sending Tahvon Campbell away on the left who fed the ball to Styche on the right who broke into the penalty area but shot straight at keeper Cameron Belford.

The game slipped further away from Harriers five minutes after the break when Styche was involved in a tussle with Manny Smith that saw both players' names go into the referees notebook.  Two minutes later the same two players were involved again when Smith went down in a manner to suggest that he had been hit by the Harriers player who was shown his second yellow card in as many minutes and dismissed.

Wrexham needed just two more minutes to wrap the game up; Newton blasting a free-kick from 20 yards over the wall and into the far top corner giving Snedker no chance of saving.

Reduced to ten men Harriers played with more freedom and pushed hard to get back into the game, introducing Gurjit Singh and Andre Wright to the attack.  On the hour Fox's cross from the left found the head of Verma but his header was weak and easy for Belford to gather.

Ten minutes later a similar move saw Fox's cross from the left this time find Singh but again his head was straight at the keeper.  Moments later an Adam Dawson corner from the right found Verma at the far post and his header was good but Belford did well to save.

Harriers eventually pulled a goal back; Dawson's free-kick from the right was met at the far post by Wright who guided his header in off the post to record his first senior goal.  The same player went close with three minutes remaining, jinking his way into the box before firing over the bar.

With Harriers pushing for an equaliser Wrexham finally ended the game five minutes into stoppage time; a long ball from defecne set Adam Smith away and he pounced on Snedker's indecision as the keeper began to come out to clear and then changed his mind, the Wrexham sub lobbing the ball over him from distance.
