Referee: Martin Coy (County Durham) |
For the second game in a row Harriers were undone thanks to a goal from a former player. Having gone up against ex-Harriers in each game so far they have now lost both games away from Aggborough with goals coming from those players - Jamie Grimes at Dover and now Adam Boyes at Guiseley. The game seemed set to end all-square when Boyes escaped his marker five minutes from time to powerfully head home Ryan Toulson's deep cross from the right giving Dean Snedker no chance of saving. Harriers had had enough chances to have won the game but failed to take them when they were presented. The closest they came to making a breakthrough in the first half was when Adam Dawson tried an audacious lob from inside his own half having spotted Steve Drench off his line but his shot went just wide. Snedker had already continued his good start to the season by keeping out an early shot from Boyes before Harriers got going. After that Dawson effort on the half hour Styche saw a shot blocked and Craig Reid blasted the follow-up over the bar and then in stoppage time Styche should have done better when Tahvon Campbell's left wing run and cross presented him with the chance but he headed over. Twenty minutes into the second half Harriers were given a wake-up call when Tom Craddock had the ball in the net but his 'goal' was ruled out for a foul on the goalkeeper. Shortly afterwards a Harriers counter-attack saw Dawson play in Gurjt Singh who helped the ball on to Styche but his poor first touch allowed Drench to come out and smother. With fifteen minutes remaining a great cross from the right by Dawson found Singh but he headed across the face of goal and wide of the far post. Harriers were then made to pay for their profligacy when Boyes popped up to win the game for the newly-promoted side and maintain their 100% home record. |
