Match Report by St@tto

Lee Hughes scored for Harriers but they were unable to push on and get a positive result, losing for the fourth time in a row.

Harriers' winless streak now stands at nine games, the last victory coming at Aldershot in January and Hughes' strike was the first by a Harriers player in seven matches - the last coming from the same player in mid-February.

Gary Whild made two changes to the side that lost to Dover last time out, bringing in Callum Gittings for the injured Jack Byrne and Lee Hughes in place of Jamie Spencer.

Harriers started brightly but it was the home side who threatened first with wide-man Toby Ajala lofting the ball over Danny Lewis and, fortunately, the bar.  Ahmed Obeng had Harriers' first good chance but his looping header from Jared Hodgkiss' cross was saved by Martin Rice.

United took the lead midway through the half; substitute Ryan Bowman latching on to a ball in from the left wing before slotting it inside the near post.  On the half-hour Torquay skipper Luke Young could have doubled the lead but his free-kick beat the wall and sailed narrowly wide.

Harriers finally found the net on 62 minutes; Kevin Nicholson, making his first appearance at Plainmoor since leaving Torquay, fired in a free-kick from deep on the right which was flicked on by Jamie Grimes and fell to Hughes who bundled it in from close range.

Before they could push on and press for a second goal Harriers were behind again just three minutes later, their defence split wide open with a through ball for Bowman to run on to before slotting in his second goal of the game.

Harriers pressed for a second goal; Gittings' pass set up Hughes but before he could get his shot away he was stopped by a fine tackle from Aaron Dawson.  With fifteen minutes remaining United failed to clear a Harriers corner and Josh Gowling saw his header cleared off the line; soon afterwards Aman Verma saw his free-kick flick off the wall for a corner.

The last chance of the game fell to Harriers again, Hughes flicked on Gittings' corner to Gowling who headed over.
