Match Report by St@tto

Kevin Nicholson's first goal in a Harriers shirt helped his new team beat his previous side at Aggborough.

Looking for a quick response following their disappointing exit from the FA Cup last time out a much-changed Harriers team were quick out of the box, taking the lead in the fourth minute.

Harriers showed five changes to the team - Jack Byrne, Nathan Blissett, Craig Reid and Marvin Johnson all returned to the starting line-up while new loan signing Matt Robinson came in for his debut - and it was one of those changes who opened the scoring.  Latching on to a long ball out of defence by Jamie Grimes Johnson turned United right back Dale Tonge inside-out before lashing his shot into the far top corner of the net.

It was all Harriers in the first half, with Tonge having a torrid time as the home team attacked on the wings; Reid could have doubled the advantage midway through the half but his chip on the turn went narrowly wide of the far post.

On 26 minutes Nicholson found the net with a free-kick from distance in the inside-right channel that evaded everybody on its way through a crowded penalty area and nestled in the bottom corner.

Late in the half Robinson made a strong run through the middle but dragged his shot just wide and Johnson piled on more misery for Tonge turning him round and round before shooting straight at keeper Jordan Seabright.

United stiffened their defence at the break by removing the hapless Tonge but it was still Harriers who were on top.  Early in the half Ahmed Obeng made a jinking run into the penalty area on the right before seeing his shot blocked by Aaron Downes.

Midway through the half Johnson wasted a good chance to increase the advantage; Latching on to Reid's through ball he snatched at his first-time shot when he had more time than he realised and blasted it high and wide.Moments later Blissett had a header from Nicholson's cross tipped away for a corner.

United eventually pulled a goal back in the last minute of regulation time; Downes heading in at the near post from Luke Young's left-wing cross.  Five minutes into stoppage time the visitors almost rescued an unlikely draw but Danny Lewis pulled off a magnificent save to push away young's goalbound free-kick.
