Match Report by St@tto

A stunning strike from Michael Gash, along with Amari'i Bell's first strike for the club, kept Harriers' play-off hopes alive and ended Cambridge's chances of winning the league.

United came to Aggborough knowing that victory was needed to keep them in with the slimmest of slim margins of catching Luton while Harriers themselves need the points to keep within touching distance of the play-off places.

Setting out to avenge the heavy defeat suffered at the hands of United at Abbey Stadium in Andy Thorn's last game in charge Harriers were lively from the start in a game that was played at a frantic pace.

Despite the pace, and the end-to-end nature of the game, there was little in the way of goalmouth action from either side in the first half with defences on top and play condensed into midfield.

After the break the game opened up a little more and Danny Lewis was called upon to save from former Harrier Matthew Barnes-Homer.  Harriers took the lead midway through the half; a strong run from Callum Gittings at the heart of the visitors' defence allowed him to roll the ball into the path of Bell who tucked his shot under Will Norris at the near post.

On 72 minutes Josh O'Keefe went agonisingly close to recording his first goal for the club, after Nathan Blissett and Gash had combined to set him up he unleashed a 20-yard shot that whistled just past the post.

The second goal came five minutes later; Danny Lewis's long kick found Gash who controlled with one touch before turning and lashing an unstoppable shot from 25 yards out on the left into the far top corner giving Norris no chance to stop it.

Victory moved Harriers to within five points of the play-offs, but with just three games to go their task still requires victory in all three matches and help from elsewhere.
