Match Report by St@tto

Amari Morgan-Smith came off the bench to score twice and rescue a point for Harriers.

There was already an atmosphere of animosity towards manager Andy Thorn and chairman Mark Serrell by the time that Braintree took the lead on 52 minutes but things immediately took a turn for the worse with calls for the heads of both.  When the visitors doubled their lead midway through the half the atmosphere became as hostile as any felt inside Aggborough for many years.

Thorn made a number of changes to the team, some as a result of injury and suspension, bringing back Anthony Malbon, Adrian Cieslewicz and Freddie Ladapo while giving a first start to Santiago Aloi.

After brief bright start from Harriers the game soon degenerated with neither side looking particularly good.  Josh O'Keefe headed high and wide from a corner but made a crucial goal-line clearance to deny Dean Wells shortly before the break.

Early in the second half Mickey Demetriou went close with a 20-yard free-kick that went just over the bar.  Matt Paine gave the visitors the lead, volleying home after Harriers failed to clear a corner.  After Kyle Storer had gone close with another free-kick Town doubled their lead, Dean Holman scoring from close range after good work from Bernard Mensah on the right.

Morgan-Smith, on for the ineffective Ladapo, reduced the arrears with 12 minutes to go pouncing on the loose ball after Nathan Vaughan's long free-kick was knocked down in the penalty area.  Four minutes later he levelled the scores with a shot on the turn from 20 yards after receiving a pass from O'Keefe.

With a minute to go Morgan-Smith almost crafted a winner, following a strong run on the right his low cross was sliced by a Town defender straight up into the air, Josh Gowling got his head to the ball but after looping over keeper Nick Hamman it came down on top of the bar.
