Match Report by St@tto

Some shocking defending saw ten-man Harriers suffer their worst ever Conference defeat.

After playing their part in an entertaining first half Harriers collapsed in a manner that even the England cricket team would have been disappointed with.

Most of the goals were disappointing from a defensive point of view; Luke Guttridge pounced on 27 minutes as the Harriers defence were slow to react after Danny Lewis had parried Matt Robinson's shot.

After the break Paul Benson was allowed time to head in Jake Howells' cross, two defenders rooted to the ground as he rose above them to meet the ball.  The third goal came was surrounded in farce; Chey Dunkley brought down Benson to give away a penalty but referee Nick Kinseley initially mistakenly sent off Josh Gowling before changing his decision and dismissing Dunkley.  Howells took the penalty to make it 3-0, his third spot-kick of the season against Harriers.

The Harriers defence was again statuesque  on 70 minutes as Benson rose to head Andre Gray's cross back across goal for Howells to hook in unchallenged from close range.  With 12 minutes remaining Lewis flapped at Guttridge's left wing free-kick allowing Scott Griffiths, the smallest player on the pitch, to head in the fifth.  Guttridge completed the rout with four minutes left, rounding off a fine team passing move to drill the ball past Lewis.

The defeat was Harriers' worst ever in the Conference, their heaviest since losing 10-1 to Shrewsbury in the Border Counties League in April 1978 and heaviest in a League game since losing 6-0 at Enderby Town in the southern League in March 1975.
