Match Report by St@tto

Marvin Johnson's first half strike was enough to win the game for Harriers in difficult conditions, condemning United to a 16th game without a win.

Strong winds spoiled the game, making it almost impossible for either side to play any sort of decent football; any time the ball was lifted off the floor the wind changed its direction radically and many passes were over-hit.

Danny Jackman came into the side to make his debut following his transfer from Gillingham and Danny Pilkington came in for his first start for several weeks since recovering from injury.

The game was very scrappy as both teams struggle to cope with the conditions and it was late in the half until clear cut goalscoring chances were created, first Kyle Storer seeing a shot saved before Johnson outpaced the visiting defence to latch on to Lee Vaughan's long pass to despatch the ball past Ryan Young to record his fifth goal of the season.

Once ahead Harriers controlled the game and after the interval should have increased their lead. Young kept Telford in the game with good saves from Nathan Blissett and Chey Dunkley while Vaughan fired into the side netting and Blissett blasted over the bar when faced with what should have been an easy chance.

Victory strengthened Harriers position in the play-off places, giving them a four-point gap to sixth-paced Luton. A win the next game at Newport will see them move up at least one place and could see them climb as high as third.
