Match Report by St@tto

Jamille Matt's seventh goal of the season gave Harriers their seventh Conference win in-a-row and lifted them into the play-off places for the first time.

Fielding an unchanged side from the team that had beaten Dartford at the weekend Harriers took the lead after just five minutes, Matt stabbing the ball in from close range after United failed to clear Kyle Storer's left-wing corner.

United enjoyed a lot of possession in the first half but didn't make the most of it; Marley Watkins created a chance moments after Harriers had taken the lead, his right-wing run and cross found Sam Clucas on the edge of the penalty area at the far post but he shot wide across the face of goal.  Danny Lewis, though, was equal to the test whenever the home team broke through, notably saving from fomrer Harrier Brian Smikle after he had been set up by the lively Watkins; he was also alert enough to make a good save after Chey Dunkley mis-hit a clearance towards his own goal two minutes before the interval.  At the other end Anthony Malbon fired just over tha bar as Harrierslooked to increase their lead.

The pouring rain and heavy pitch made conditions difficult for both teams and the game was often stuck in midfield. United came closest to scoring in the second half; the Watkins, after receiving a pass from Smikle on the right, cut inside only to see his shot hit the near post.  That was the only shot on target either side mustered in the second period, United never looked like getting back on level terms as Harriers played with the confidence of a team that had won six games on the bounce and never looked like letting that run end.
