Match Report by St@tto

Harriers and Corby must face each other again at Steel Park on Wednesday evening after neither side was able to break the stalemate at Aggborough.

Steve Burr was able to call upon the services of four returning players: Kyle Storer and Lee Vaughan were back after suspension while Luke Jones and Dave Hankin had recovered from injury. Three of them came straight back into the starting line-up while Hankin was on the bench.

Despite having a stronger team available Harriers were not at their best and the game soon became scrappy with neither side looking good. Eventually the visitors went close when Matt Rhead sent a glancing header from Andy Hall's left-wing free-kick across the face of goal on 28 minutes.

Shortly afterwards a Harriers corner degenerated into farce as Dave Bird slipped while kicking and sent the ball straight to a Corby player; The Steelmen counterattacked swiftly and Harriers were indebted to Tom Marshall who made a last-gasp sliding tackle to deny Rhead from getting his shot away.

Harriers best chance of the half fell to Nick Wright who shot across the face3 of goal after good work from Jamille Matt and Marc Williams crafted the opening for him. Wright then turned provider for Bird but he lofted his shot wide.

After the break the game was no better. Clear-cut chances were few and far between and when Harriers did manage to get through the robust Town defence former Harrier Chris MacKenzie was on form to keep them at bay. Just past the hour mark Hall's free-kick beat the wall and had Dean Lyness scrambling across goal to push it away for a corner. on 70 minutes Lyness was almost caught out when his clearance hit Rhead and rebound back towards goal, fortunately for Harriers it dropped over the bar.

Harriers's best chance of this half fell to Storer seven minutes from the end after Corby had half cleared a corner; his 25-yard shot took a deflection but MacKenzie still made a good save at the expense of a corner. In truth, though, neither side looked capable of winning the game and a draw was probably the right result on the day.
