Match Report by St@tto

Harriers extended their unbeaten run to ten games but dropped two more points as they were unable to break down a resolute Eastbourne defence.

The home team had been beaten 6-0 at home by Stevenage in midweek and were clearly determined to ensure that the same thing didn't happen again, putting up a solid rearguard action.  The conditions didn't help the spectacle, a stiff breeze and a hard, dusty pitch meant that good football was in short supply in the early stages.

Harriers should have had the lead by the interval; after surviving an early scare when Jamie Taylor saw his shot saved by Ross Atkins good chances fell to Dean Bennett who completely miscued his shot and in stoppage time Adam boyes' shot was parried by Danny Knowles into the path of Brian Smikle whose shot was cleared off the line by Ben Austin.

The second half was more entertaining as both sides got to grips with the conditions.  After 52 minutes the home team failed to clear a corner from the left, the ball fell to Boyes who struck a shot against the crossbar.  At the other end the woodwork was brought into play as Taylor was left in acres of space but saw his shot crash against Ross Atkins' right-hand post.

The frame of the goal was at the heart of the action more than once more before the end of the game; another failure to clear a corner by the home team saw the ball fall to Lee Baker who hit a shot from 20 yards or more out that was deflected onto the post.  A free-kick on the edge of the Harriers penalty area, awarded after Gavin Caines had been booked for a foul on Taylor, taken by Matt Crabb beat the wall and hit the crossbar.

In stoppage time Harriers had one last chance to win the game; Marc Goodfellow's corner from the right wasn't cleared but Dean Bennett's shot hit the post.
