Match Report by St@tto

Harriers overcame the potential banana skin of a game against the league's bottom club, a Lewes side who had lost their previous 14 games and had their manager resign in midweek.

Unchanged from their midweek victory over Crawley Harriers dominated the game enjoying the lion's share of the possession throughout but on a tricky pitch found it difficult to overcome their opponents.  The game was scrappy but turned in Harriers' favour after 19 minutes; Matt Barnes-Homer crossed low from the right for leading scorer Justin Richards, who had already drawn a save from Rikki banks in the home goal, to turn in from six yards out at the far post for his 18th goal of the season and second in as many games.

Harriers should have doubled their advantage shortly before the interval, Keith Lowe's cross from the right found Russ Penn at the far post but his header was straight at Banks who held onto it well.

The second half didn't see much improvement in the quality of the game.  Lewes toiled fruitlessly in search of their first home league goal since November 22, a run of eight games before this one but never troubled Adam Bartlett in the Harriers goal.  The Rooks didn't manage a single shot on target, making it easy for the Harriers defence to stretch to 396 minutes the time since they last conceded a goal.

Dean Bennett forced a save from Banks early in the half with a 25-yard effort that the keeper held.  Penn and Barnes-Homer also forced Banks into action before the end of the game.  Harriers didn't really look like extending their lead, although at the same they didn't really need to as they were able to comfortably see out the rest of the game to take the three pints that lift them up to sixth in the Conference.
