Match Report by St@tto

Harriers got back to winning ways with a first victory in five games despite having to play for 75 minutes with only ten men after the dismissal of Craig Armstrong.

New signing Chris McPhee was brought in for his debut while Darryl Knights started in attack in place of the injured Justin Richards and Martin Riley came straight back in after missing two games while away on international duty with England C.

Armstrong received his marching orders after 14 minutes following a reckless challenge on Borough's Dan Smith; he will miss the next three matches. A reshuffle saw the impressive McPhee move to the back alongside skipper Mark Creighton with Riley moving over to full back.  Equally impressive were the performances of Knights and David McDermott who combined to set up the opening goal on 20 minutes; McDermott's pass sent Matt Barnes-Homer into the penalty area on the left who tucked his shot inside the near post.

Despite the disadvantage of the missing player Harriers took complete control of the game and doubled their advantage five minutes later; Knights and McDermott again combined to set up Barnes-Homer who took his tally for the season to 15 with a low shot under Eastbourne keeper Lee Hook.

The home team were giving their best performance for weeks and looked capable of breaking down the visitors' defence every time that they went forward and could have gone further ahead after 28 minutes but Martin Brittain's free-kick from the left struck the crossbar.  Eastbourne rarely looked a threat and it was not until the 36th minute that they managed a shot at goal; Keith Lowe's clearance fell straight to Andy Atkin who fired across the face of goal.  Late in the half Harriers went close again; Brittain's pass found McDermott who took the ball around Hook only to see his shot cleared off the line by Marc Pullan.

After the break Harriers began as they had played the first half and soon cut through the Eastbourne defence again; Russ Penn, on for the injured Knights, played a neat one-two with Barnes-Homer and was only denied from a goal on his comeback from injury by a great last-ditch tackle by Neil Jenkins.

Harriers were unable to keep up their pace and failed to increase their advantage.  Only once more did they trouble Hook, Brittain's weak shot an easy save for the visiting keeper.  At the other end Eastbourne finally called Adam Bartlett into action with a shot from Paul Armstrong.  Despite the lack of goalmouth incident Harriers were always in control of the game and made a mockery of their one-man handicap, deservedly seeing the game out to take the three points.
