Match Report by St@tto

Harriers recorded their first Conference away win since November 3 and ended a run of six straight defeats on opposition soil with a convincing win at Crawley, their first ever win and goals at Broadfield Stadium.

Unchanged from the side that beat Rushden on Bank Holiday Monday Harriers almost found themselves behind after five minutes when a mix-up between Mark Creighton and Chris MacKenzie left Jon-Paul Pittman alone in front of goal with an easy tap in but somehow he managed to lift the ball over the bar from three yards out.

Harriers hit back immediately and took the lead through Iyseden Christie, beating Ashley Bayes in the home goal with a well-placed lob.  Less than two minutes later the same player doubled the advantage, taking Darryl Knight's through ball around Bayes and rolling it into the empty net to record his twelfth goal of the season.  Shell-shocked Crawley couldn't cope with Harriers and fell further behind after 21 minutes; Matt Barnes-Homer had a shot blocked bur was quickest to react to the rebound and swept the loose ball in.

At the other end Chris MacKenzie was on top form, beating Jamie Cook to Pittman's cross from the left then diving low to his left to push Dannie Bulman's long-range shot away for a corner then finally tipping Thomas Pinault's 20-yard dipping drive over the bar.  MacKenzie even turned provider with a long clearance that put Barnes-Homer in but his lob landed on the roof of the net.  Harriers then lost MacKenzie to injury, Dean Coleman coming on for a rare appearance.

Before the break Harriers scored again; Barnes-Homer again seeing his shot blocked but this time Bayes' parry ran to Simon Russell who lashed it into the unguarded net.

The second half had much to live up to and failed by some distance.  Harriers had the game won and were able to ease off rarely troubling Bayes in the Town goal while Crawley never looked even remotely capable of getting back into the game.  A blocked effort from Knights and a wayward shot from Michael Mcgrath were all that Harriers had to show for their endeavours in the second period but will gladly take the three points and their fourth win in six games.
