Match Report by St@tto

Harriers' worst performance of the season saw them crash to defeat against struggling Woking that saw them slip further towards the foot of the table.

Mark Yates made a number of changes to the team from the one that lost to Weymouth on Saturday, resting Jeff Kenna and relegating Luke Reynolds, Brian Smikle and Jake Sedgemore to the bench with Andy White, Gavin Hurren, Dean Sturridge and Simon Russell returning to the starting line-up.  The changes didn't pay-off as Harriers never got going and were second best throughout the game.

Woking should have taken a twelfth minute lead, Karl Murray's deep cross from the right found an unmarked Tom Hutchinson who headed over the bar from six yards out.  A scrappy game started to go the way of the home team with a farcical goal after 25 minutes; Goma Lambu's cross from the right was headed clear by Stuart Whitehead but hit Jon Nurse and ricocheted into the net off Craig McAllister.  Five minutes later Gavin Cowan gave the ball away on the edge of the penalty area to Nurse who pulled it back for Giuseppe Sole to sweep past Scott Bevan.

Before the break Harriers were almost handed a lifeline by the Woking defence; Russell's corner was headed down by White and sliced against the bar by Steve Evans.  In the last minute of the half Michael Blackwood combined with White to set up Russ Penn who made a surging run through the middle before shooting wide from 25 yards.

Woking almost added to the lead in the first minute of the second half; Danny Bunce was allowed to run from deep on the left holding off Russell and Dwayne Lee but was unable to convert when he got to the penalty area.  Harriers had a lot of possession in the second period but rarely troubled Shwan Jalal in the home goal.  Russell set Blackwood free on the left but his dangerous cross evaded Sturridge midway through the half; Harriers looked most dangerous from free-kicks from Jonny Harkness who was making his first appearance of the season as a half-time replacement for the disappointing Cowan.

Woking sub Steve Ferguson beat Hurren to the ball on the Woking left but fortunately for Harriers his cross was missed by everyone.  Shortly afterwards, however, Ferguson killed the game off completely despatching a low shot past Bevan after McAllister had won the ball in the centre of the park.  Harriers' heads dropped further with the game out of reach and only went close to a consolation goal in the last minute with another Harkness free-kick that Jalal grabbed from under the crossbar.
