Match Report by St@tto

Harriers drew a blank again, failing to score for the third time in four games, in a dour goalless draw at Bury's Gigg Lane ground.  The only plus was the performance of the defence in maintaining a clean sheet.

Scott Stamps returned to the side after completing his one-game suspension, with Adie Smith making way, as the only change to the team that drew with Darlington in the previous game.  Harriers had plenty of possession in the opening period of the game but couldn't break down the home defence.  Graham Ward called Glyn Garner into action early on, the keeper saving his header after a good cross by Stamps.  Midway through the half good work from John Williams created an opening for himself but after breaking into the penalty area he was denied by a good save from Garner.

Harriers had the best of the first half, and Adam Murray again was at the heart of most of the action.  It was Murray who created the best chance of the game, his corner from the right found Wayne Hatswell, arriving late, who headed just over the bar.

Bury performed better after the break; five minutes into the second period Glenn Whelan received the ball on hte edge of the penalty area but his snap shot was well saved by Stuart Brock.  At the other end Stamps let fly with a 25-yard effort that went narrowly over the bar.  Chris Porter headed over from Lee Connell's right-wing cross midway through the half but still neither side looked like scoring.

As the game wore on it became inevitable that it would end in stalemate.  Murray picked up the ball with his back to goal and hit a good shot on the turn that Garner held well and soon after at the other end Tom Kennedy and Gareth Seddon combined to set up Joe O'Neil who headed across the face of goal and wide of the far post.  Harriers last good chance came two minutes from time when Scott Rickards set Matt Gadsby away on the right and his low cross to the near post was heading towards Bo Henriksen until Garner saved low down at his feet.  In stoppage time Harriers almost threw it all away when they conceded a free kick just outside the penalty area but the home team wasted the opportunity and the game was over.
