Harriers reached the Third Round of the FA Cup for just the second time in their history after a thoroughly professional performance brought them victory over former Conference rivals Woking.

Jan Molby made one change from the team that drew at Boston last week, bringing back Scott Stamps in place of Sean Parrish but kept the same 4-4-1-1 formation.  The game got off to the best possible start for Harriers after a delayed kick-off when Dean Bennett chased a through ball from Matt Gadsby and tucked his shot under Scott Bevan to open the scoring after just four minutes.

Harriers had the best of the possession in the first half, without creating too many clear-cut chances, but Woking looked dangerous on the break. After 18 minutes Woking won a corner on the left that Harriers failed to deal with properly but Adie Smith saved them when he threw himself in front of Raphael Nade's shot. The pace of Nade caused problems for Harriers and Smith in particular throughout the half, midway through the period he left Smith for dead only to be denied by a great tackle from Hatswell that the referee saw as a foul. The resultant free-kick was wasted, being struck straight into the wall.

Before the interval Harriers had another good chance to increase their advantage, a ball over the top of the Cards' defence beat the offside trap and left Andy White with plenty of space to run into and he beat the onrushing goalkeeper to the ball but his lob from wide on the right drifted well wide of the far post.

After the break Woking showed more appliction as they were forced to come at Harriers more and had more posssession; Harriers were content to soak up the pressure and try to hit back on the counter-attack.  Just after the hour mark Woking won a free kick on the right midway inside the Harriers half, it was pumped into the penalty area to an unmarked Chris Sharpling who galnced his header wide of the far post.  A minute later Harriers doubled their advantage; Bennett raced onto a through ball on the left and broke into the penalty area, his intial shot was saved by Bevan but the ball came back to him and was quickest to react and steer it into the net.

Ten minutes on and Harriers had the game wrapped up; a Woking attack broke down and play switched swiftly to the other end, Sam Shilton raced clear on the right wing and crossed low into the penalty area, Bennett missed the ball completely but Steve Burton was arriving late in acrea of space at the far post and swept the ball past Bevan.  Even though there was still more than fifteen minutes to play there was a mass exodus of Woking fans from the ground from this point on.

Woking battled on bravely even though the game was lost but Stuart Brock was not called upon to make a proper save, the closest they came was a miss-hit cross from the left that Brock fumbled over the bar for a corner.  Harriers were able to see out nearly five minutes of added time comfortably and begin to dream of a glamour tie in the next round.
