Draw specialists Harriers had to share the points for the seventh time in ten games
despite dominating the game against high-flying Rochdale.
In other games this season Harriers have made themselves hard to break down and frustrated
their opponents, this time, however, it was Harriers who were unable to break down their
opponents with Drewe Broughton being the chief culprit missing two gilt-edged opportunities,
although to be fair to the visitors they didn't come to defend.
In the early exchanges it was Rochdale who had the best chances, Paul Connor and Clive
Platt both had weak shots saved by Stuart Brock. On the half hour, Danny Williams
came closest with a blistering drive from a twice taken free-kick that Neil Edwards did
well to save. Just before the break Bo Henriksen went close, heading Craig Hinton’s
right wing cross straight at Edwards.
After the break Harriers continued to dominate possession, and created a string of
chances. As the game wore on Harriers became more and more frustrated at their
inability to break down their visitors and the game had a fifteen minute spell midway
through the half that became very scrappy. Broughton’s first good chance to open
the scoring saw him head well wide from the centre of the penalty area when unmarked,
while Scott Stamps brought a save from Evans with a long range effort.
Substitute Ian Foster was very lively when he came on for the last quarter of an hour,
as was Dean Bennett, Foster went very close with a curled effort from the right that hit
the far post and bounced away to safety. He then created the chance in stoppage time
that would have won the game for Kidderminster, crossing from the right he found Broughton
at the far post but somehow he shot over from one yard out. Harriers had to settle for just
one point that leaves them languishing in mid-table when a victory would have pushed them
up with the leading pack.
