Match Report by St@tto
Harriers fell to a very disappointing defeat after taking the lead at The Vetch against Swansea.

As expected, Jan Molby and Richie Appleby were given a rapturous reception by the Swansea fans, and for the first five minutes all of their songs were dedicated to the returning heroes.

The first half was an open affair with both sides attacking, Swansea wing back Jenkins causing a few problems with his crossing while the pace of the Harriers attack was stretching the Swansea offside trap. Harriers were dealt a blow when Danny Williams threw himself into a tackle and injured himself, he was stretchered off to be replaced by Ian Clarkson.

Despite the setback Harriers took the lead, Richie Appleby split the defence open and Bo Henriksen raced on to the pass and fired a low shot past the advancing Freestone. Foster nearly doubled the lead when he sprung the offside trap but was nor accurate enough with his shot, and then hhe ahd another opportunity taking the ball around Freestone but Todd got back to clear.

Swansea drew level when slack marking allowed Jonathan Coates to head a cross back into the danger area and Todd nipped in to head past Brock.

At the interval Coates was replaced by Steve Watkin who immediately began to cause problems for the Harriers defence. The more lively Swansea attack and the weakened Harriers midfield saw the game begin to swing towards the home team. On the hour a right wing corner was turned goalwards by Man-of-the-Match Todd and hooked in by Sharp.

Once in front, Swansea were determined that they were going to record their first win since Boxing Day and got ten men behind the ball at every opportunity. Henriksen was replaced by Broughton but he couldnt make any difference, and Swansea almost increased their lead when Sidibe hit a fierce shot that Brock pushed away for a corner.

Against a team as poor defensively as Swansea were, Harriers should have been able to create and take enough chances to win the game. The loss of Williams was a key factor as nobody else was able to step up and support Appleby in midfield, and the forwards couldn't get themselves into the game once Swansea started pulling everybody back.
