Match Report by St@tto |
Harriers recorded their ninth home win of the season with a comfortable
win over bottom club Halifax.
Straight from the start Harriers attacked their opponents, prompted by the returning Richie Appleby, and in the first ten minutes they had four chances to open the scoring, the best a close range effort from Bo Henriksen that Barry Richardson did well to keep out. Harriers were dealt a blow after thirteen minutes when Colin Larkin was forced out of the action with a leg injury to be replaced by Ian Foster. Within two minutes the substitution had paid dividends, Foster pounced on a mix-up between Richardson and one of his defenders to roll the ball into the empty net. After the bright start the game became quite scrappy, Halifax showed why they are bottom of the league with some poor play but the did enough to stop Harriers getting fully into their stride. The Shaymen never threatened in the first half, and withdrew the ineffective Kerrigan from the attack before the break. After the interval the game continued to be scrappy, Harriers had most of the possession and the best of the chances but as the game wore on Halifax sensed that an equaliser might be possible and started to create chances. Stuart Brock pulled off a great save to keep out Steve Bushell, and later on Paul Harsley. Eventually, Harriers wrapped up the game when Scott Stamps was upended in the penalty area by Craig Middleton. Ian Foster stepped forward to take the kick, and fooled Richardson completey by cheekily chipping the shot in. A deserved win was finally settled and the three points took Harriers back into the play-off positions. |
