Match Report |
Promotion chasing Brighton kept the title challenge on track with
a victory which gained revenge for the defeat they received at the
Withdean Stadium earlier in the season.
The early exchanges were fairly even with neither side creating too much in front of goal, and it needed the intervention of Adie Smith's header which looped over Stuart Brock to break the deadlock. After the break, Kidderminster stepped up the pressure but could not force a way through. After an hour, however, it was Brighton who thought that they had scored but the gol was ruled out for offside. Midway through the first half Kidderminster had had a good shout for a penalty turned down when Ian Foster went down on the area, and in the second half the referee ignored their appeals when John Durnin was felled from behind. Controversially, when Brighton's Bobby Zamora was brought down by Craig Hinton in a challenge no worse than either of the others, Mr Pugh pointed straight to the spot. Two goals down, Kidderminster lost their cohesion and were lucky to end the game without conceding again. |
